Couple Spotlight: Elaine and Ian’s Dreamy Wintergarden at PPG Place Wedding
Elaine and Ian’s love story started at a networking event in Pittsburgh, where they discovered they both went to the College of William and Mary. This shared connection sparked their first date at Noodlehead, and the rest is history. Fast forward to December 2019, Ian proposed to Elaine in front of their Christmas tree, and they were ecstatic to celebrate their engagement with family and friends over the holidays.
Elaine and Ian envisioned their wedding day as a fun and beautiful celebration, where they could share the exciting next step in their relationship with loved ones. They originally planned for a November 2020 wedding, but the pandemic caused some bumps in their wedding planning journey. Despite this, they were able to navigate the challenges together and still have the wedding day of their dreams.
Their wedding took place at the stunning Wintergarden at PPG Place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a color palette featuring dark teal dresses for the bridesmaids and pops of coral, bright pink, and softer pinks and greens. The pale green linens added to the summertime vibe of the wedding and paired well with the flowers. The glass ceiling and clean lines of the building inspired a subtle and elegant style that reflected against the glass with the evening string lights and candles.
The couple included subtle bird elements on their program, cake topper, and cross-stitched pillow carried in on. The ceremony was not religious, which allowed them to personalize it to fit their relationship. They incorporated their mothers into a unity candle lighting and chose the ceremony music, played beautifully by a solo cellist.
Elaine’s favorite moment was the first look, where they both felt the excitement and reality of the day and were able to experience it together. She loved the flowers, the food, and most of all, her dress and shoes. She picked out her dress in January 2020 and was thrilled to finally wear it and dance the night away.
Their wedding day was beautiful, happy, and so much fun, with surprisingly great weather. After waiting and working through so many changes and reschedules, they couldn’t stop smiling. From the first look to the ceremony and dancing at the reception, they felt so loved and supported the entire day.
Elaine and Ian’s advice to newly engaged couples is to communicate and make decisions together, focusing on what matters most to them. It can be overwhelming hearing everyone’s opinions, but staying on the same page is essential for a fun planning experience.
One heartwarming addition to their wedding day was Ian’s sister Amanda, who gave birth to her daughter Penelope just a week before the wedding. Despite Penelope’s early arrival, Amanda insisted on still being a part of the wedding, with their new baby niece. It was a touching moment for the couple to have both of them be a part of their special day.
Elaine and Ian’s wedding at Wintergarden at PPG Place was a dreamy and stunning event, where love, happiness, and excitement filled the air. Their wedding day proved that love will always prevail, even in the face of challenges. Congratulations to the happy couple on their beautiful wedding day, and here’s to a lifetime of love and happiness.
